RAMALLAH, Thursday, February 15, 2024 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh called today on Britain to investigate the conditions and degrading interrogation methods faced by Palestinian detainees in Israeli occupation prisons, particularly those detained during the ongoing invasion of the Gaza Strip.

Shtayyeh also urged an inquiry into war crimes and atrocities committed against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

The call came during his meeting with the British Attorney General, Victoria Prentis, at his office in Ramallah, in the presence of the British Consul General in Jerusalem, Diane Corner.

Prime Minister Shtayyeh emphasized that obstructing the delivery of aid to Gaza constitutes a war crime warranting investigation. He also highlighted the ongoing power and water outages in the Gaza Strip as pressing humanitarian issues that require attention.

Shtayyeh further called on Britain to take action against dual-nationality Israeli colonists, as well as urge them to leave colonies deemed illegal under international law within the occupied Palestinian territory.  

The Prime Minister stated, "Israel has completely reoccupied the West Bank; it storms Palestinian cities, villages, and refugee camps daily. This is in addition to the daily arrests and killings of our people, along with the establishment of nearly 700 military checkpoints in the West Bank aimed at hindering movement, communication, and closing off Palestinian communities."
