NABLUS, July 26, 2026 (WAFA) — Two Palestinian women were forced to give birth inside vehicles after being unable to reach hospitals due to Israeli forces’ closure of checkpoints surrounding Nablus, according to Physicians for Human Rights.

The organisation said restrictions on Palestinian movement and the closure of roads and checkpoints delayed the women’s access to necessary medical care, resulting in two births taking place in difficult conditions outside medical facilities.

It warned of the serious humanitarian consequences of obstructing patients and pregnant women from reaching healthcare services, stressing that freedom of movement and access to medical care are fundamental rights that must be protected.

The organisation called for an end to measures preventing Palestinians from reaching hospitals and health centres, holding Israeli authorities responsible for the risks faced by civilians due to continued checkpoint closures and movement restrictions.
