Palestinian Foreign Ministry rejects Israeli narratives used to justify crimes against Palestinians

RAMALLAH, July 24, 2026 (WAFA) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Friday rejected misleading narratives promoted by Israeli authorities at political, military, and colonial levels to justify crimes against Palestinians and portray the perpetrator as the victim.

In a statement, the ministry said these narratives are also being used to justify imposing further closures and sieges on Palestinian towns, villages, and refugee camps, fragmenting them through military checkpoints, restricting movement routes, accelerating the legalization of colonial outposts, expanding existing colonies, and establishing new ones.

The ministry warned of escalating attempts, particularly amid the Israeli election atmosphere, to exploit genocidal rhetoric, incitement, and official escalation by Israeli politicians, turning Palestinian suffering into a tool for political and electoral gains and boosting the popularity of the far right.

It said inflammatory statements by senior Israeli government officials, along with attempts to mislead international public opinion, constitute an official discourse being used to justify crimes committed against Palestinians and create a political and media environment for expanding aggression and advancing plans of genocide and forced displacement in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The ministry stressed that the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice affirmed the illegality of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory, the need to end it without delay, dismantle colonies, and halt the illegal colonial presence in accordance with international law.

It added that it continues, in coordination with Palestinian embassies and missions, efforts to mobilize international pressure to stop Israeli aggression, occupation policies, and colonist terrorism, and to hold those responsible for crimes and violations accountable.

The ministry called on the international community and its institutions to take urgent action to provide international protection for Palestinians, adopt deterrent measures to stop colonist terrorism, and prevent Israeli government plans aimed at destroying and forcibly displacing the Palestinian people.
