At President's Direction, Foreign Ministry urges governments worldwide to take immediate action to stop colonist terrorism

RAMALLAH, July 26, 2026 (WAFA) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on the instructions of President Mahmoud Abbas, has sent urgent memoranda to governments around the world through diplomatic missions accredited to the State of Palestine.

The Ministry called for immediate international action to halt the terrorist crimes carried out by Israeli colonists and the crimes of the occupation forces, and to ensure international protection for the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.

In its memorandum, the Ministry affirmed that, in parallel with the state of alert it has declared at all embassies and missions of the State of Palestine, it is continuing its efforts with governments, parliaments, and international organizations in response to the dangerous escalation of crimes committed by settlers and occupation forces.

Such crimes, the Ministry added, including daily killings, the burning of mosques, homes, and property, and the closure of roads linking cities and villages across the occupied West Bank.

It stressed that these crimes are not isolated incidents, but rather part of an official and systematic Israeli policy of providing protection and political and military support to colonist gangs. It emphasized that continued impunity gives the occupation forces and colonists a green light to continue and escalate their crimes.

It stated that these policies serve the survival of the far-right Israeli occupation government, which is hostile to peace, continues to expand settlements, impose facts on the ground by force, displace Palestinian citizens, and implement plans for annexation, ethnic cleansing, and genocide.

The Ministry called on governments to take immediate and practical measures, including issuing clear condemnations, supporting independent international investigations, holding those responsible for these crimes accountable, working to disarm the settlers in accordance with Security Council Resolution 904, and imposing sanctions on the Israeli settlement system and those responsible for and inciting it.

It also called for a ban on importing settlement products and halting all economic and financial dealings with them, activating universal jurisdiction to prosecute perpetrators of war crimes and crimes against humanity, supporting the establishment of an international protection mechanism for the Palestinian people, and implementing the 2024 advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice on the illegality of the Israeli occupation and settlement activity.

It stressed that the Palestinian people can no longer tolerate the continuation of the policy of impunity, calling on the international community to translate its legal and moral obligations into practical and tangible steps that end the occupation, ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians, and compel Israel, the occupying power, to respect international law and the resolutions of international legitimacy.
