RIYADH, July 26, 2026 (WAFA) — Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi on Sunday condemned the burning of a mosque in the village of Kur, in the Tulkarm governorate, by Israeli colonists, who also spray-painted racist slogans on its walls.

In a statement, Albudaiwi described the attack as a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, as well as a serious breach of international conventions protecting religious sites and freedom of worship. He said the attack also provokes the feelings of Muslims around the world.

He said the assault is part of a continued pattern of violations targeting the Palestinian people and their holy sites, holding Israeli forces fully responsible for the attack and the repeated assaults carried out by colonists. He said continued protection of and failure to act against such attacks encourages impunity and contributes to a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability.

Albudaiwi called on the international community, the United Nations Security Council, and human rights and humanitarian organisations to fulfil their legal and moral responsibilities by taking urgent action to stop the violations, hold those responsible accountable, and provide international protection for the Palestinian people and their holy sites.

He added that continued international silence over such attacks encourages their repetition and undermines prospects for peace and security in the region.
