President Abbas receives Saudi FM in Kazan

KAZAN, October 24, 2024 (WAFA) – President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas received on Thursday Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on the sidelines of the BRICS summit held in the Russian city of Kazan.

During his meeting with Minister bin Farhan, President Abbas asked him to convey his greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, appreciating the principled and steadfast positions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause at all levels, especially in international forums through its chairmanship of the Arab-Islamic Committee, to mobilize international support, to obtain more recognition of the Palestinian state, and to obtain full membership in the United Nations.

The President reviewed the latest developments in the Palestinian region, and the ongoing efforts with all parties, to stop the comprehensive aggression of the occupation against Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and to spare civilians the scourge of war, especially in the northern Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to genocide for more than two weeks, and to stop the attacks of the occupation forces and terrorist colonists on Palestinian people in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

President Abbasreiterated that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Palestinian State, and is under its responsibility and administration, and the State of Palestine rejects any measures that lead to the separation of the Gaza Strip from the State of Palestine.

He stressed that the State of Palestine will continue its efforts to implement the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice in accordance with the General Assembly resolution, hold the international peace conference, and continue working to obtain Palestine's full membership in the United Nations, stressing the importance of obtaining more recognition of the State of Palestine from countries that have not done so.

The President renewed thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the financial support it provides to the State of Palestine, which contributes to alleviating the difficult economic and financial crisis it is going through, as a result of the continued aggression and Israel's withholding of clearance funds as well as strangling the Palestinian economy.
