Egypt condemns Israeli minister Ben-Gvir’s storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque

CAIRO, October 26, 2026 (WAFA) – The Arab Republic of Egypt condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, accompanied by hundreds of colonists and protected by occupation police, stressing its categorical rejection of these provocative practices, which constitute a flagrant violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites and the existing historical and legal status quo in occupied East Jerusalem.

In a statement on Monday, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned of the dangers of continued violations that fuel tensions and threaten regional stability, reaffirming its rejection of any attempts to change the status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque or divide it temporally or spatially.

Egypt called on the international community to assume its responsibilities to halt these practices and respect relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
