RAMALLAH, February 25, 2026 (WAFA) - At the conclusion of the third day of the nomination phase for the local elections, the Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced the number of nomination applications received by the end of the working day on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, as part of its daily monitoring of the ongoing electoral process.

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) clarified that the total number of nomination applications received reached 87 electoral lists in municipalities, comprising 1,014 male and female candidates, in addition to 486 male and female candidates for the village councils.

The Central Elections Commission (CEC) emphasized that the submission of applications does not necessarily imply their acceptance, noting that all files will undergo a thorough review. Applicants will be notified once the legal and procedural review is finalized. Furthermore, the CEC urged prospective candidates to submit their applications promptly rather than waiting until the last moment, stressing its commitment to avoiding overcrowding and ensuring that all required procedures are completed before the end of the legal submission period.
