Gaza death toll rises to 61,944 as Israel continues to bomb the Strip

GAZA, August 17, 2025 (WAFA) – Medical sources said on Sunday that the death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 61,944, the majority of whom are children and women, since the start of the Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023.

The same sources added that the death toll has risen to 155,886 since the start of the aggression, while a number of victims remain under the rubble, unable to be reached by ambulances and civil defense teams.

They indicated that 47 people were killed including 9 who were recovered, and 226 wounded others were taken to hospitals in the Gaza Strip during the past 24 hours.

The death toll and injuries since March 18, when the occupation violated the ceasefire agreement, has reached 10,400 and 43,845 others were wounded.

The sources explained that the number of slain aid-seekers taken to hospitals over the past 24 hours reached 14, with 132 injured, bringing the total number of slain aid-seekers at hospitals to 1,938, and the total number of injured to 14,420.

Gaza hospitals recorded seven deaths due to starvation and malnutrition over the past 24 hours, including two children, bringing the total number to 258, including 110 children.
