JERUSALEM, May 31, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation police on Sunday detained 42 Palestinian workers from the West Bank near the Lachish area, south of the 1948 territories, under the pretext of attempting to enter Israel without entry permits.
In a statement, the occupation police alleged that border guard forces carried out pursuit and search operations in the area after spotting a group of Palestinian workers near the separation barrier, before detaining 42 of them.
The 1948 territories have been witnessing ongoing pursuit and detention campaigns against Palestinian workers seeking to reach their workplaces inside Israel and secure livelihoods for their families, amid difficult economic conditions in the occupied Palestinian Territory and escalating restrictions on workers’ movement since the start of the aggression on the Gaza Strip.
Earlier in the day, Israeli forces fatally shot a young man from the village of Salem, east of Nablus, near the separation wall in Al-Ram, north of occupied Jerusalem.
