Five Palestinians killed in an Israeli airstrike in Jabalia

GAZA, January 16, 2025 (WAFA) – An Israeli airstrike Thursday killed five Palestinians to the west of Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip, according to WAFA correspondent.

He said that an Israeli fighter jet conducted a airstrike targeting a house in the vicinity of the an-Nazleh roundabout, claiming the lives of five civilians, including two minors and two women.

Meanwhile, Israeli artillery shelled Abasan al-Kabira town, east of Khan Younes in the southern Strip.

Earlier today, Israeli airstrikes targeted a house in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, as well as a shelter in al-Zeitoun neighborhood, south of Gaza City, resulting in four fatalities and several casualties.

Although Qatar announced that a three-phase ceasefire agreement was reached in the Strip and would come into effect on Sunday, Israel perpetrated eight massacres against the civilian population of the Strip in the last 24 hours, killing 81 and injuring 188 others.

Israel has proceeded with its genocidal offensive on the war-torn Strip in complete disregard of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which ordered Israel in a legally binding decision to halt its military offensive in Rafah, which may violate its obligations under the Genocide Convention.

Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza since October 7, killing at least 46,788 Palestinians and injuring 110,453 others.

Moreover, at least 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.

Palestinian and international organizations say that the majority of those killed and wounded are women and children.

The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafah near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.
