Hundreds of Palestinians stranded at checkpoint north of Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, August 16, 2026 (WAFA) — Hundreds of Palestinians remained stranded in their vehicles for hours today at the Jaba military checkpoint northeast of occupied Jerusalem due to intensified Israeli military measures and daily restrictions at the checkpoint.

Local sources reported that Israeli forces intensified inspection and identity-check procedures for vehicles and Palestinians, obstructing traffic and causing long lines amid severe congestion.

The Jaba checkpoint is frequently subjected to intensified measures and near-daily partial closures by Israeli forces, causing severe traffic disruptions and impeding the movement of Palestinians, particularly those traveling to and from Jerusalem and areas in the northern West Bank.

The measures are part of ongoing restrictions imposed by Israeli forces on Palestinian movement in the West Bank, directly affecting their ability to travel to work and return to their homes.
