BETHLEHEM, August 16, 2026 (WAFA) – A Palestinian doctor from Jerusalem was injured on Sunday night after being beaten by colonists in the town of Jannatah, east of Bethlehem, according to the Jerusalem Governorate.
The governorate said that Majed Alyan Dwayat, a resident of Sur Baher village, south of Jerusalem, sustained a broken hand when about 10 colonists attacked him with stones and sticks. The attackers also smashed the windows of his vehicle.
According to the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, Israeli occupation forces and colonists carried out 2,256 attacks against Palestinians, their lands, and property in July, including 1,458 attacks by the occupation forces and 798 by colonists.
The Commission said the attacks were concentrated in the governorates of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, with 260 attacks, followed by Nablus with 247, Jenin with 190, Bethlehem with 185, and Hebron with 170.
It noted that these figures reveal clear coordination between Israeli military forces and colonists' terrorism, with the occupation army providing protection and support, as well as a permissive environment that allows the attacks to expand and their consequences to become established realities on the ground.
