Israel demolishes last mosque in Arab village threatened with forced displacement in Naqab area

NAQAB, November 14, 2024 (WAFA) – The Israeli authorities stormed the unrecognized village of Umm al-Hiran, which is threatened with displacement in the Naqab region within the 1948 territories, at dawn on Thursday, and demolished the mosque, which is the last thing left of the village, after demolishing its homes.

Quoting the Arab 48 website, the Israeli police terrorized the families of Umm al-Hiran and detained three people.

The residents of the villages of Umm al-Hiran and Ras Jaraba and 10 other villages in the region face the risk of displacement in the coming days, as the Israeli authorities seek to settle Jews in towns that will be built on the ruins of the Arab villages there.

The Israeli authorities gave the residents of Umm al-Hiran until November 24 to evacuate it, in order to establish a Jewish town that will be called Dror on the ruins of their village, while the village of Ras Jaraba will be, according to the Israeli plan, a neighborhood within the jurisdiction of the city of Dimona.

The Israeli authorities rejected the requests of the residents of Ras Jaraba and Umm al-Hiran to be part of the residential complexes that will be built on the ruins of their towns, and demanded that the residents evacuate Umm al-Hiran immediately in order to build a Jewish town inhabited only by Jews.
