TEL AVIV, September 27, 2026 (WAFA) – The Israeli Supreme Court confirmed today that the Israeli government is violating a judicial ruling obligating it to allow the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to visit Palestinian detainees.

The Court ruled that the government is failing to comply with its judgment requiring it to resume Red Cross visits to Palestinian detainees held in facilities operated by the Israel Prison Service (IPS) and the Israeli military.

Supreme Court President Isaac Amit, Deputy President Noam Sohlberg, and Justice Daphne Barak-Erez ordered the government to clarify by October 11 whether all necessary procedures to resume the visits had been completed, and to provide updated information on scheduled or completed visits.

“The operative meaning of the ruling is that the respondents are under an obligation to permit Red Cross visits to detention facilities without undue delay,” the justices wrote on Sunday. “Since the ruling, over three months have passed.”

The decision followed a petition submitted by four human rights organizations, which said that the government had violated the Supreme Court’s ruling by failing to comply with the judicial decision issued in June.
