RAMALLAH, September 27, 2026 (WAFA) — Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, warned today of the grave dangers posed by the escalating incursions by extremist Israeli colonists into Al-Aqsa Mosque, accompanied by the performance of Talmudic rituals under the protection of Israeli police, describing them as a blatant violation of the historical and legal status quo governing the holy sites.

Abu Rudeineh said these continued violations constitute a dangerous Israeli attempt to impose new realities on the ground and restrict Palestinian worshippers, and a serious provocation to Muslims around the world.

He stressed that continued Israeli attempts to impose a temporal and spatial division of Al-Aqsa Mosque, along with the ongoing escalation in occupied Jerusalem, threaten to turn the political conflict into a religious war that would endanger security and stability in the region.

Abu Rudeineh stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque, in its entirety spanning 144 dunums, is an exclusively Muslim place of worship that cannot be divided or shared.

“We hold the Israeli government fully responsible for the serious consequences of these provocative policies,” Abu Rudeineh said, calling on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take urgent, practical and immediate steps to protect the Palestinian people and holy sites, compel the occupation authorities to comply with relevant international resolutions.
