GAZA, Monday, September 12, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli navy ships today opened machine gunfire at Palestinian fishermen sailing off the coast of Beit Lahya town in the northern besieged Gaza Strip and forced them to return to shore, according to WAFA correspondent.

He said that Israeli naval boats fired machine gunfire at the fishing boats sailing within a few nautical miles off the shore.

No casualties were reported during the attack, which forced the fishermen to return to shore.

The Israeli naval boats also targeted fishermen and their boats off the coast of Khan Younis and Rafah in the southern coastal enclave, forcing them to flee for their safety.

Meanwhile, nine Israeli military vehicles, including tanks and bulldozers, breached the Gaza border near Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, leveled land used for agriculture and erected earth mounds, said WAFA correspondent.

Israel tries to keep the land near the border fence clear and leveled while preventing landowners and farmers from working or using their lands.

This week marks the 17th anniversary of Israel’s disengagement from Gaza. However, Israel has since then maintained a strict blockade on the Gaza Strip and its two million population through its control over its land, sea and air.
