Fatah says truce with Israel does not come without a price

RAMALLAH, August 20, 2018 (WAFA) – The ruling Fatah party Monday slammed Hamas for suggesting a truce with Israel, stressing that a truce does not come without a price.

Fatah spokesman Usama Qawasmi described in a statement claims by Hamas that its truce with Israel will not have a political price as “nonsense, lies and disinformation that cannot fool anyone.”

He said “the price will be in allowing the passage of the American-Zionist Deal of the Century, bashing the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), turning the division into separation, implementing Israeli schemes aimed at having total hold over Jerusalem and the West Bank and blocking the possibility of an Israeli withdrawal from the land of the State of Palestine.”

Qawasmi said Hamas used to consider truce with Israel treason before 2007, when it took over the Gaza Strip by force from the Palestinian Authority. “But today, it is negotiating a long term truce with certain security arrangements in return for humanitarian aid.”

He warned that this is considered “a real threat to the Palestinian national identity, literally implementing the deal of shame, seceding of the Gaza Strip, a bullet in the heart of the occupied Palestinian state, Jerusalem, and agreeing in principle on scraping the right of return.”

The Fatah spokesman said the truce is in reality a word by word implementation of the Israeli scheme aimed at annihilating the Palestinian cause.
