Gaza death toll rises to 72,942 killed and 172,967 injured since start of offensive

GAZA, June 2, 2026 (WAFA) – Medical sources in the Gaza Strip said the cumulative death toll from the ongoing Israeli offensive since October 7, 2023, has risen to 72,942 killed and 172,967 injured, amid continued targeting of civilians and a worsening humanitarian crisis alongside the collapse of the health system.

The sources said these figures are part of daily updates issued by Gaza health authorities documenting casualties since the start of the offensive, noting serious difficulties in rescue operations and access to affected areas.

They added that since the ceasefire on October 11, the total number of fatalities has reached 933, while injuries have reached 2,868, in addition to 781 bodies recovered from under the rubble.

Medical officials also reported that hospitals in Gaza received one fatality and nine injuries in the past 24 hours, while several victims remain trapped under debris or in the streets due to the inability of ambulance and civil defense teams to reach them.

Health and humanitarian institutions warn that the continued offensive and restrictions on rescue and medical teams are deepening the humanitarian catastrophe, increasing the death toll, and hindering recovery and treatment efforts.
