NEW YORK, June 1, 2026 (WAFA) – Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Minister Riyad Mansour, sent three identical letters on Monday to the UN Secretary-General, the President of the Security Council for this month (Colombia), and the President of the General Assembly, regarding Israel’s ongoing measures aimed at entrenching the annexation of Palestinian land and making it irreversible, despite repeated international condemnations.
Mansour pointed to Israel’s continued advancement of illegal construction plans in the E1 area, aimed at separating the northern West Bank from its southern part and isolating occupied East Jerusalem from its Palestinian surroundings, in grave violation of international law and the unity and territorial integrity of the occupied Palestinian Territory, delivering a fatal blow to the two-state solution.
He noted that the Israeli government approved plans last year to build 3,401 colonial units in the E1 area and issued tenders for their implementation, in addition to advancing a new segregation road that would deprive Palestinians of access to their homes and lands.
He also referred to Israeli plans based on the forced displacement of Palestinian communities, including recent orders by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to displace the Palestinian village of Khan al-Ahmar, located in the heart of the West Bank, as well as the electronic system launched by Israel for “land registration and rights settlement” of Palestinian lands, which leads to the reclassification of land ownership and enables colonists to seize and appropriate Palestinian land.
He also referred to Israeli decisions concerning archaeological and religious sites in the West Bank, including the seizure of lands surrounding the village of Nabi Samwil, northwest of Jerusalem, which constitutes the first appropriation of a religious site in the West Bank, in addition to Israel’s approval of plans to build a military complex over the UNRWA headquarters in occupied East Jerusalem, following its seizure and unlawful demolition, in violation of United Nations privileges and immunities and the absolute inviolability of its property and premises.
Mansour stressed that these measures constitute a core part of Israel’s schemes aimed at annexation and imposing control over the occupied Palestinian territory, including occupied East Jerusalem.
Regarding colonists’ violence in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, he said that such attacks are carried out with the backing of the Israeli government and occupation forces and constitute a central pillar of the annexation project aimed at depopulating Palestinian land and seizing it unlawfully through killing, injury, and the destruction of infrastructure, livestock, and olive trees.
He also referred to the Gaza Strip, where nearly two million Palestinians remain displaced across the territory amid the continued Israeli bombardment and the catastrophic humanitarian situation, noting the Israeli Prime Minister’s orders to expand Israeli control to include 70 per cent of the Strip, in another step towards the gradual annexation of the entire enclave, and in yet another blatant violation of the United Nations Charter, the ceasefire agreement concluded in October 2025, and Security Council resolutions.
He also said that the use of rape and sexual violence as a weapon of war forms part of the ongoing campaign against the Palestinian people aimed at erasing their existence, history, and heritage, referring to the inclusion of Israeli armed and security forces on a United Nations list of parties responsible for patterns of sexual violence in armed conflict.
He called on the international community, including the Security Council and all States, to act without delay to put an immediate end to the Israeli annexation campaign in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, and to end the ongoing injustice against the Palestinian people through the adoption of practical, binding, and effective accountability measures, in line with relevant Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, the provisions of the Fourth Geneva Convention, and the advisory opinions and orders issued by the International Court of Justice, in order to compel Israel, the occupying Power, to fully comply with its legal obligations, ensure respect for international law, save human lives, and preserve the prospects for a just and lasting peace that are rapidly eroding.
