Prime Minister directs intensified oversight across official institutions and governorates

RAMALLAH, June 2, 2026 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on Tuesday directed all relevant authorities to intensify the work of oversight and inspection committees across government institutions and governorates in order to protect citizens, regulate markets, and ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.

During its weekly session in Ramallah, the Cabinet reviewed reports documenting the escalation of colonial settler terror crimes against the Palestinian people and their property. During the past week alone, Israeli colonists carried out 76 terror attacks targeting 19 Palestinian villages, resulting in injuries to 19 Palestinians, including six children. At the same time, Israeli occupation authorities issued more than 35 demolition notices against Palestinian structures across several governorates, following the demolition of six Palestinian facilities.

The Cabinet also called on the international community and countries around the world to exert the highest levels of pressure on the occupying authorities to halt plans aimed at constructing thousands of new illegal settlement units on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank. It stressed that these settlements are illegal under international law and international humanitarian law, lack any legal legitimacy, and constitute a flagrant violation of relevant international resolutions.

It also condemned the escalating Israeli violations of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which have now exceeded 3,000 breaches, and called on the international community and guarantor states to take urgent and decisive action to compel Israel, the occupying Power, to comply with the agreement and ensure the regular and adequate entry of humanitarian assistance to meet the citizens’ needs.

The Cabinet further discussed a revised draft Law on the Right of Access to Information in preparation for its submission to the President in the near future. The revised draft incorporates additional amendments introduced following months of consultations with civil society organizations and relevant institutions, in the presence of the Head of the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission.

The Cabinet also reviewed the outcomes of the third meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Commission for Education and Vocational Training, as well as implementation measures aimed at activating its programmes, plans, and partnerships. These include the adoption of the Commission’s annual plan and 100-day action plan, the activation of Sector Skills Councils, the launch of the Renewable Energy Skills Council, support for digital transformation and intergovernmental interoperability, and the strengthening of national and international partnerships.

Finally, and as part of the Government’s National Programme for Development and Reform, the Cabinet discussed a number of proposed legislative measures currently being prepared by a dedicated committee aimed at strengthening governance across the transport sector.
