Israeli authorities issue six-month ban from Al-Aqsa Mosque to Jerusalemite woman

JERUSALEM, June 2, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli authorities on Tuesday issued a new order barring a Jerusalemite woman from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for six months.

The Jerusalem Governorate said that Israeli authorities served Nafisa Khweis, a Jerusalemite female worshipper and activist at Al-Aqsa Mosque, with a six-month exclusion order from the holy site.

Israeli authorities continue to impose exclusion orders against a number of male and female worshippers and Jerusalemite figures as part of measures aimed at limiting the Palestinian presence in and around Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The use of exclusion orders barring Palestinians from Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem's Old City has intensified, with bans ranging from several days to several months and often being repeatedly renewed.

Jerusalem-based institutions and experts say the policy is intended to restrict Palestinian access to Al-Aqsa Mosque and reduce the Palestinian presence there, while settler incursions into the compound continue under the protection of Israeli forces.
