HEBRON, March 6, 2025 (WAFA) – Several Palestinians Thursday evening suffocated in an Israeli army raid in Beit Ummar town, south of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, according to a local activist.
Mohammad Awad said that the occupying forces barged their way into and set up a checkpoint at the Saffa Circle area in the town, stopping Palestinian-registered vehicles, smashing the windows of some of them, and abusing passengers.
He added that the heavily armed soldiers fired barrages of tear gas canisters toward civilians’ houses, causing several civilians to suffocate from excessive tear gas inhalation.
All of the suffocation cases were treated at the scene.
The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids are conducted without a search warrant whenever and wherever the military chooses, in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative, and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
