RAMALLAH, August 4, 2026 (WAFA) – President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas received today the Mayor of Al-Bireh Munif Treish and elected members of the municipal council at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Hussein Al Sheikh, Executive Committee member Ziad Abu Amr, Presidential Diplomatic Affairs Advisor Majdi Al-Khalidi, and Presidential Legal Affairs Advisor Wael Lafi.
President Abbas congratulated the mayor and council members on gaining citizens’ confidence and winning the municipal elections, affirming his full support for elected municipalities in advancing municipal work and improving the quality of public services provided to citizens.
The President stressed the importance of concerted efforts by all parties to ensure the success of the legislative elections scheduled for November 28, 2026, as a continuation of the democratic process launched in the State of Palestine through the municipal elections.
For his part, the mayor briefed President Abbas on the municipality’s work plan, the services it provides to citizens, and its future vision for developing institutional work and modernizing infrastructure to ensure a better quality of life for the city’s residents.
The mayor and members of the Al-Bireh Municipal Council expressed their appreciation for President Abbas’ significant support for national and municipal institutions, affirming the municipal council’s commitment to advancing the city of Al-Bireh and meeting the aspirations and needs of its residents.
