TULKARM, August 4, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Tuesday destroyed two memorials honoring Palestinian figures in the city of Tulkarm and the town of Kafr al-Labad, east of the city, as their ongoing aggression against Tulkarm and its two refugee camps entered its 555th consecutive day.
WAFA correspondents reported that Israeli forces destroyed the memorial honoring George Habash at Al-Alimi Roundabout in Tulkarm's northern neighborhood, as well as the memorial of Ziad Da’as on Kadoorie University Street in the city's western neighborhood.
In Kafr al-Labad, east of Tulkarm, Israeli soldiers also vandalized a portrait of slain Palestinian Nash’at Abu Jabara displayed on an electricity pole in the town center.
Israeli forces also destroyed memorials honoring Palestinians killed by Israeli forces at two roundabouts in Tulkarm city, one in the western neighborhood and the other in another area of the city.
They further tore down and vandalized portraits of slain Palestinians displayed along the streets of the Shuweika suburb, north of Tulkarm.
Tulkarm Governor Abdullah Kmeil said in a statement that the attack constitutes a blatant assault on public property and aims to inflict further damage on infrastructure and deepen the suffering of citizens, as part of the collective punishment policy pursued by the Israeli occupation authorities against the people of the governorate.
He added that the attack was carried out under flimsy and unjustified pretexts, in flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, requiring serious international action to hold the occupation accountable and put an end to its ongoing violations.
The destruction comes amid the ongoing Israeli aggression against the city of Tulkarm and the Tulkarm and Nur Shams refugee camps, which has so far resulted in the killing, injury, and detention of dozens of Palestinians, widespread destruction of infrastructure and public and private property, and the forced displacement of thousands of residents from the two camps.
Israeli forces have also continued raids into the city, its suburbs, and surrounding towns, while tightening military measures at its entrances and in the surrounding areas.
