JERUSALEM, Wednesday, October 26, 2022 (WAFA) – A Palestinian resident of occupied East Jerusalem was forced today by the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem to demolish his own home under the pretext of construction without a permit, reported WAFA correspondent.

She said that Sanad Ajouli proceeded to demolish a room he built to shelter his family of four members in the Old City to avoid paying high costs if the municipality demolishes it.

He told WAFA that the West Jerusalem municipality also forced him to pay over $30,000 in fines for construction without a permit after eight years of building his home.

Palestinians in Jerusalem are forced to build without a permit because getting one from the Israeli municipality, which discriminates against them, is an almost impossible task.
