CAIRO, September 6, 2026 (WAFA) – Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil Fahmy today condemned statements issued by ministers in the Israeli occupation government concerning the displacement of the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip.
In a press statement, Fahmy said such statements challenge the international community’s efforts to achieve peace, advance efforts to end the war in Gaza, and put an end to the humanitarian suffering endured by residents of the Strip over the past months as a result of the Israeli occupation’s continued unilateral escalation.
He stressed that any discussion of displacing the Palestinian people is categorically rejected, emphasizing that such statements, plans, and proposed measures aimed at undermining their inalienable rights constitute an explicit violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
He noted that the issuance of such statements while the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip continues, coupled with Israel’s failure to respond to peace efforts backed by international consensus, represents a further attempt by the occupation authorities to complicate the situation, threaten the security and stability of the region, and divert attention from the actual reasons behind the obstruction of peace efforts.
Fahmy affirmed his support for the Palestinian people’s steadfastness on their land, noting that any discussion of the Gaza Strip in geographic and demographic terms is, in essence, an integral part of the broader discussion on establishing an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
The Arab League Secretary-General warned of the dangers and consequences of such statements for peace and stability in the region, stressing that they constitute a continuation of Israeli escalation that threatens to plunge the region into a new wave of instability in pursuit of narrow electoral calculations.
He called on the international community and its institutions to confront such statements and fulfill their responsibilities to halt any efforts that could alter the land and its people, impose a new reality, and undermine the Palestinian people’s full and inalienable rights.
