RAMALLAH, September 7, 2026 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced the details of its preparations and readiness for the launch of the new academic year, which began yesterday, Sunday.

It said in a statement that the construction and equipping of 17 new schools, at a total cost of $19.5 million, commenced operations during the current academic year.

In the Gaza Strip, the academic year in the Gaza Strip is scheduled to commence within the coming days, following the completion of preparations and the establishment of 700 face-to-face educational sites expected to serve more than half a million students.

A total of 8,371 classrooms have been fully equipped with interactive screens, supporting the integration of technology into teaching and enhancing interactive learning for students in Grades 1–4, the statement said.

The ministry said that it replaced outdated school internet networks with high-speed fiber-optic infrastructure to support technology-enabled and interactive education.

More than 900 schools have been equipped with solar energy systems to ensure a more reliable energy supply, support the continuity of the educational process, and enhance preparedness for emergency situations, according to the statement.

Meanwhile, approximately 10,300 primary school teachers and educational supervisors have completed practical training aimed at strengthening their professional capacities and enhancing their ability to implement interactive teaching and learning approaches.

The ministry noted that the printing and distribution of textbooks for various grades are being finalized, alongside the preparation of worksheets and supplementary educational materials to support and enhance the learning process.

It also said it provided transportation buses for students in targeted areas, with a budget of $1.5 million, to ensure safe and equitable access to their schools and support continuity of education.
