RAMALLAH, Sunday, January 09, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli repression units early today morning raided section 8 for Palestinian detainees in the Israeli prison of Megiddo, near the city of Umm al-Fahm, and vandalized the belongings of the detainees, according to the Palestinian Authority’s Detainees Affairs Commission.
Hasan Abed Rabbo, a spokesman for the Commission, said Israeli repression forces attacked the rooms of the Palestinian prisoners while the prisoners were inside and destroyed and sabotaged their belongings.
Tensions in the Israeli prisons where Palestinian political prisoners are held have increased since a dramatic jailbreak on September 6 when six Palestinian freedom fighters tunneled out of Gilboa Prison. The six recaptured a few days later.
The Israeli occupation authorities are incarcerating more than 4,500 Palestinian and Arab prisoners for resisting the Israeli occupation of their homeland.
In recent years, Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention have launched multiple strikes to demand better imprisonment conditions, including an end to the unjustified Israeli policy of raiding prisoners' sections.
