NABLUS, September 8, 2026 (WAFA) – More than 130 male and female teachers, along with several kindergarten students, remain stranded in the villages and towns of Qabalan, Talfit, Yatma, Qusra, Al-Sawiya, Jurish, Qaryut, and Jalud amid large-scale Israeli army raids in the area, according to the Director-General of Education in South Nablus, Samer Al-Jamal.

The Director-General of Education said that difficult conditions on the ground have prevented several teachers and kindergarten students from returning home.

He said that the Directorate of Education is closely monitoring their situation and undertaking intensive efforts, in coordination with the governorate and through communication with the military and civil liaison authorities and other relevant parties, to ensure their safe return home.

Al-Jamal commended the efforts of village councils, municipalities, and local community groups in the affected areas, as well as the cooperation and support they have provided to teachers and students.

He also expressed his appreciation to all village councils that continue to support teachers and students and stand by them under these difficult circumstances.

He affirmed that the safety of students and teachers remains the top priority, adding that the directorate will continue monitoring their situation and coordinating with various parties until they are safely returned to their homes, while ensuring their safety and dignity.
