RAMALLAH, November 5, 2024 (WAFA) - Minister of Health Majed Abu Ramadan Tuesday announced the conclusion of the emergency polio vaccination campaign in the Gaza Governorate.

Abu Ramadan added in a press statement that the number of vaccinated children on the fourth day of the campaign in Gaza City reached 297 children, while the total number of vaccinated children in Gaza City reached 105,558 children.

He noted that the total number of vaccinated children in the second round in the Gaza Strip reached 556,774 children under the age of 10 years, with a coverage rate of 94 percent.

He pointed out that Palestinian children in the North Gaza Governorate are still deprived of the second dose of the vaccine due to the escalation of the Israeli occupation's aggression along with the ensuing targeting of treatment and vaccination centres and mobility restrictions.

He affirmed that this poses a great danger to Palestinian children, pointing out that the second dose is necessary to obtain full immunity and prevent the transmission of infection to others in the future.
