NAQAB, October 12, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli authorities began demolition operations this Monday morning in the unrecognized village of Al-Dahiya in the Naqab region.
The demolitions targeted the homes of the Abu Wadi family—a move threatening to displace hundreds of residents—amid fears that dozens of families could lose both their homes and their land.
These demolition operations follow the Beersheba District Court's rejection of a request to freeze the execution of the orders, thereby paving the way for the enforcement of demolition decisions affecting homes and structures in the village.
Previous reports indicated the existence of demolition orders targeting approximately 60 homes in the village, which is inhabited by nearly 300 members of the Abu Wadi family, including children and the elderly.
Demolition operations have escalated significantly in recent years, affecting dozens of homes and structures in Rahat as well as other towns and villages across the Naqab.
A large portion of these demolitions is concentrated in unrecognized Arab villages, where residents face repeated demolition orders on the grounds of building without a permit—a situation stemming from the state's refusal to recognize these villages and the absence of planning schemes to regulate construction within them. Reports estimate that tens of thousands of Arab citizens in the Naqab live in unrecognized villages, facing harsh conditions regarding housing, infrastructure, and services.
The policy of home demolitions is not limited to the Naqab; Arab towns across the country face a chronic housing and planning crisis.
