RAMALLAH, Thursday, April 25, 2024 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa today met several Socialist and Democratic Party (SDP) members of the German Bundestag via video conference.
During the call, Prime Minister Mustafa expressed appreciation for Germany’s announcement that it would resume funding to the United Nations Agency of Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) and support the agency’s programs in Gaza, the West Bank and the diaspora. He also voiced appreciation for Germany’s initiative intended to create 25,000 employment opportunities in Palestine in the coming few years.
He discussed the catastrophic conditions of the Palestinian people following 202 days of Israeli genocidal war on the blockaded Gaza Strip and escalating Israeli army and colonist crimes in the West Bank.
He called on the German parliamentarians to work effectively to increase the volume of humanitarian assistance allowed entry into the Strip and open the border crossings, while warning of the repercussions of the Israeli invasion of Rafah.
He reviewed the Palestinian government’s priorities and plans to provide relief needs, achieve institutional reform and financial stability and restore basic services in the Gaza Strip, and stressed the need for supporting the government’s programs by immediately releasing all the tax revenues withheld by the occupation authorities and halting all deductions.
Deputy Chair of SDP Gabriela Heinrich stressed the importance of allowing the entry of humanitarian assistance to the Strip in a manner that meets emergency needs while noting that SDP party would continue to provide necessary support to Palestinians through the Bundestag.
In addition to Heinrich, SDP Party members Nils Schmid and Sanae Abdi attended the meeting.
