RAMALLAH, September 5, 2016 (WAFA) – Palestine’s representative to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, Monday called for submitting a draft resolution to the United Nations Security Council that condemns Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Mansour told Voice of Palestine radio that he had urged the Arab foreign ministers who are due to meet in Cairo on Monday to give the green light to the council of Arab ambassadors to the UN to submit a draft resolution to the Security Council condemning Israel’s ongoing settlement expansion in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, occupied in June 1967.
He said he expects that the resolution could muster 14 votes in favor if submitted to a vote but said there were fears of a possible US veto, holding the US responsible for any consequence to its negative vote.
