DUBLIN, May 21, 2025 (WAFA) – Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence Simon Harris on Wednesday called on Israel to lift the blockade on Gaza and allow the entry of humanitarian aid.
This came in a speech he delivered to the Irish House of Commons on the situation in Gaza.
Harris stressed that if Israel continues its military attacks, further sanctions must be imposed, pointing out that the number of children killed in Gaza has reached 15,000, according to United Nations reports.
He added that UN data indicates that 34,000 children have been injured, and more than a million others have been displaced.
The Irish diplomat pointed out that approximately 17,000 children have been separated from their families, affirming that the psychological scars resulting from this disaster will last for generations.
H noted that Palestinians in Gaza are forced to face starvation, noting that humanitarian aid is being prevented from entering the area.
