World Health Assembly adopts decision health conditions in occupied territories

GENEVA, May 21, 2025 (WAFA) – The World Health Organization on Wednesday adopted a decision on the health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

The World Health Assembly adopted the decision titled the Health Conditions in the Occupied Palestinian territory, including east Jerusalem, and in the occupied Syrian Golan, during its seventy-eighth session, held under the theme “One World for Health”, at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

104 WHO Member States voted in favor of the draft decision, which highlights the deliberate targeting of hospitals and medical personnel, the obstruction of the passage of ambulances, and denying patients access to treatment, 14 WHO Member States abstained, and four others voted against it.

The WHO Member States that voted against it were Germany, Israel, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
