RAMALLAH, May 21, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli officials continue to condemn the Israeli government's policy in its ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip, accusing it of committing a mass war crime.
Former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon reiterated in an interview on Wednesday that the Israeli government is committing war crimes in the Gaza Strip, noting that "Smotrich and Ben-Gvir do not want to end the war and are talking about expelling Palestinians and strengthening settlements in Gaza."
Ya'alon's statements came in response to others made yesterday by Yair Golan, head of the opposition Israeli Democratic Party, on public radio affiliated with the official Israeli Broadcasting Authority.
Accordingly, Ya'alon believed Golan was "mistaken" in his statements, explaining in a post on X that killing Palestinian civilians "is certainly not a hobby, but rather a messianic, nationalistic, and fascist ideology."
He pointed out that the one who has prevented the release of prisoners since the beginning of the war is this "demented" Israeli government, warning that military pressure is what is killing Israeli prisoners.
He considered the Netanyahu government's killing of Palestinians to be a "messianic, nationalist, and fascist ideology," noting that this ideology pursued by the Netanyahu government is supported by "rabbinic rulings that say there are no innocents in Gaza."
Ya'alon continued, "This is not a hobby, but a government policy, the ultimate goal of which is to retain power," emphasizing the necessity of change by replacing a government of extremists, evaders, and corrupt people.
It is worth noting that Ya'alon has made similar statements, in which he acknowledged the war of extermination waged by Israeli soldiers in the northern Gaza Strip.
After the head of the Democratic Party, retired Major General Yair Golan, criticized the Israeli government for "killing children as a hobby" in Gaza, Haaretz confirmed in its editorial yesterday that what the occupation army is committing there constitutes a mass war crime.
