Israeli police raid UNRWA-run training center in Qalandia, north of occupied Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, August 30, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces raided Qalandia refugee camp north of occupied Jerusalem on Sunday and deployed inside the camp’s alleys, according to the Jerusalem Governorate.

The governorate said the police also raided the UNRWA-run Qalandia Vocational Training Center and spread throughout its grounds.

Israeli forces previously raided Qalandia refugee camp and Kafr Aqab on Tuesday amid a heavy deployment of troops and military vehicles in the streets and neighborhoods, and began clearing the UN-run center.

Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir took part in that raid and said Israeli authorities had begun “an operation to evacuate the building,” claiming that “there is no place for the agency in Jerusalem and Israel.”

The compound includes educational, vocational and health facilities. UNRWA had previously warned of an Israeli plan targeting its facilities at the site, noting that implementing the plan would require demolishing most of the training center’s facilities.
