Israeli colonists seize public park in Kafr Ni'ma, west of Ramallah

RAMALLAH, August 30, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists on Sunday seized a public park on the outskirts of Kafr Ni'ma village, west of Ramallah, installing an iron gate at its entrance and raising the Israeli flag as part of ongoing attacks targeting the village's land.

Head of the Kafr Ni'ma village council, Raafat Khalifa, said the park, covering approximately 2.5 dunams, was established around two and a half years ago with funding from the European Union through the Palestinian Local Authorities Union. The area is classified as Area B under the Oslo Accords.

Khalifa said the installation of the gate would prevent residents from accessing their agricultural land and the park, which had served as a recreational space for villagers. He added that colonists had previously seized a water spring in the area and established a small pool and recreational site in the valley.

The village council had received no notification of any decision authorizing the gate or the seizure of the area, Khalifa said, stressing that the move forms part of an ongoing Israeli colonization campaign targeting the village's land.
