NABLUS, November 6, 2014 – (WAFA) – Several Palestinian suffocated early Thursday during clashes that erupted near Joseph's Tomb to the east of Nablus when Israeli settlers broke into the site, said witnesses.
Protected by Israeli forces, over eight buses packed with settlers arrived at Joseph's Tomb and performed religious rituals there, triggering clashes with the residents.
Soldiers fired tear gas canisters toward the residents, causing many to suffer from excessive tear gas inhalation.
The site of Joseph’s Tomb is contentious; Palestinians believe the site to be the funerary monument to Sheikh Yousef Dweikat, a local religious figure, while Israeli settlers believe it to belong to the Biblical Patriarch Joseph.
