RAMALLAH, Wednesday, July 1, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society said Israeli occupation forces have detained at least 20 Palestinians from across the West Bank, including Jerusalem, since Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning.
The group said among the detainees are five women: Jamila Abu Dahou and Jamila Kanaan from Ramallah, released prisoner Mayser Al-Faqih, Faten Hanaysha from Nablus, and Ataf Badr from Hebron, in addition to journalist Hassan Abdul Jawad from Bethlehem.
It added that Israeli forces continue to escalate arrest campaigns and field interrogations at a rapid pace since the escalation of violence, targeting various segments of Palestinian society as part of what it described as a policy of collective punishment and retaliation.
The society noted that women are increasingly targeted through ongoing arrest campaigns, including being used as hostages, nighttime home raids, and harsh interrogation methods, in addition to arrests over alleged “incitement” on social media. It said the number of female prisoners has risen to 99.
It also said the number of detained journalists has increased to 42, including two held under enforced disappearance.
According to the group, more than 24,000 arrests have been carried out since the escalation began, as detention campaigns and field interrogations continue across the West Bank targeting women, children, and former prisoners alike.
