RAMALLAH, August 31, 2026 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on Monday calls for serious and concrete steps to halt grave escalation in Israeli colonist attacks and occupation measures.
Prime Minister Mustafa made this call during a meeting with the European Union (EU) Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, Christophe Bigot, at his office in Ramallah.
Prime Minister Mustafa and the EU Representative discussed the latest political developments and the field situation in the Palestinian Territory amid the ongoing Israeli genocidal aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the escalating attacks by colonist militias in the West Bank, as well as the economic and financial situation and preparations for the upcoming Palestinian elections in November.
Mustafa stressed the need for the EU to take serious and concrete steps to halt the dangerous escalation in colonist attacks and land seizures, as well as the daily incursions by the occupation forces into Palestinian areas, warning that the continued escalation could further destabilize the situation and trigger a wider escalation across the West Bank.
The Prime Minister also called for pressure on Israel to release the Palestinian clearance revenues it has withheld for the seventeenth consecutive month, warning that the situation has reached grave and unprecedented levels amid the continued accumulation of Israeli banknotes in Palestinian banks, restrictions on freedom of movement, and banning Palestinian workers access to their workplaces.
Mustafa briefed Bigot on efforts to hold the Palestinian elections and underscored the importance of international support in overcoming challenges and removing obstacles to ensure that the elections are held on schedule, with the participation of Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.
For his part, Bigot reiterated the European Union’s position rejecting colonist attacks and all unlawful Israeli measures, and affirmed the EU’s support for providing protection to the Palestinian people, as well as for Palestinian efforts to prepare for the upcoming elections.
