JERUSALEM, August 31, 2026 (WAFA) – Severe traffic congestion and a buildup of Palestinian vehicles were reported this evening around Qalandia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem, after Israeli forces tightened restrictions and closed the area’s entrances and exits.
The Jerusalem Governorate said that Israeli forces closed the entrances and exits in the area between Qalandia and Al-Ram, obstructing the movement of Palestinians and vehicles and causing severe traffic congestion. It added that tear gas canisters were fired by the Israeli army in the area.
The measures came amid continued military restrictions imposed on Palestinian residents around Qalandia refugee camp and at checkpoints north of Jerusalem, further exacerbating residents’ hardships and hindering their movement between Jerusalem, Ramallah, and surrounding areas.
