Colonists attack village near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, August 31, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists on Monday evening attacked the village of Burqa, east of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, according to the village mayor.

Sayel Kanaan told WAFA that colonists, protected by the occupation forces, attacked the village from the eastern side, where they broke into a home, and assaulted women and children inside.

He added that the gun-toting soldiers stormed the area to provide protection for the assailants and detained several young men while they were in the vicinity of the home.

Meanwhile, he added that colonists targeted the village from the western side and attempted to torch a vehicle graveyard and a sheep pen.

According to the Colonization & Wall Resistance Commission (CWRC), the occupying forces and colonist militias carried out 2,256 attacks against Palestinian civilians and their property during July 2026. The occupation forces carried out 1,458 attacks, while colonist militias carried out 798.

The CWRC said the attacks were concentrated in the governorates of Ramallah and al-Bireh, with 260 attacks, followed by Nablus with 247, Jenin with 190, Bethlehem with 185, and Hebron with 170.

It noted that these figures demonstrate that the occupation forces clearly coordinate with colonist militias, as the occupation army provides the protection, support, and enabling environment that allows attacks to expand and turns their consequences into enduring realities on the ground.
