GAZA, August 31, 2026 (WAFA) — Five fishermen were injured today by Israeli naval gunfire while working off the coast of Gaza City.
Eyewitnesses said Israeli warships opened fire at the fishermen’s boats as they were working off the city’s coast, injuring five of them.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that its crews transported three of the injured to the Society’s Al-Saraya Field Hospital and two to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City to receive the necessary medical care.
Since the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip was announced on October 11, 2025, 1,318 Palestinians have been killed and 4,375 others injured, while the bodies of 815 Palestinians have been recovered.
The death toll from Israel’s aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has risen to 73,454, with 174,486 others injured.
