Three Palestinian prisoners suffer medical neglect in Israeli prisons, says detainees' commission

RAMALLAH, June 7, 2026 (WAFA) – Palestinian prisoners continue to endure severe health and humanitarian conditions inside Israeli prisons amid ongoing medical neglect and deteriorating detention conditions, according to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs.

In a report issued on Sunday following visits by its legal team to several prisons, the commission said that sick detainees are facing worsening conditions due to delayed treatment and lack of adequate medical care.

It noted that one detainee, Feras Hatem Mansour, 32, from Balata refugee camp, held since August 2024, is suffering from a previous gunshot injury and requires urgent surgery, but remains untreated in Megiddo Prison.

Mansour is also suffering from a skin disease that has not been properly treated, contributing to severe pain and limited mobility.

Another detainee, Osama Bani Fadl, 23, from the town of Aqraba is also suffering from a chronic inflammatory bowel condition, requiring regular medical care and hospital transfers, but continues to face restrictions on appropriate nutrition and treatment while held in Gilboa Prison.

A third detainee, Ghaleb Rafati, 25, held in administrative detention at Ofer Prison is also said to be suffering from multiple untreated health issues, including kidney-related problems and other medical complications.

The commission warned that continued neglect of prisoners’ health and living conditions may lead to further deterioration in their condition, amid ongoing systematic mistreatment inside Israeli detention camps.
