RAMALLAH, March 17, 2026 (WAFA) – The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (pps) said on Tuesday that the occupation authorities have issued and renewed administrative detention orders against 52 Palestinian detainees.
In a joint statement, they explained that the occupation continues to escalate the use of administrative detention against Palestinians, under the pretext of the existence of a “secret file.”
They noted that the number of administrative detainees has reached 3,442 as of the beginning of March.
Israel’s widely condemned policy of administrative detention allows detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals usually ranging between three and six months, based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing.
“Israel‘s use of administrative detention blatantly violates the restrictions of international law. Israel carries it out in a highly classified manner that denies detainees the possibility of mounting a proper defense,” says Israeli human rights group B’Tselem.
