Over 60 Palestinians detained and interrogated by Israel: PPS

RAMALLAH, February 16, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces launched a widespread campaign of arrests and field interrogations targeting at least 60 Palestinians in the West Bank from Sunday evening until Monday morning. Those detained included two women, a journalist, and former prisoners, some of whom were released under ceasefire agreements.

The PPS stated in a press release on Monday that the arrests and field interrogations followed the Israeli announcement of intensified arrest campaigns in the West Bank, coinciding with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan. The arrests were concentrated in several governorates, particularly Nablus.

It noted that most of those arrested were interrogated in the field before being released. It added that the Israeli occupation continues to escalate its arrest and interrogation operations at an increasing rate since the beginning of the year, as part of a policy of collective punishment targeting various segments of Palestinian society.

The PPS also reported that the arrests were carried out in the field before being released. The statement indicated that the occupation employs a range of repressive policies during raids, most notably field interrogations, which have become standard practice across various governorates. Families are forced to leave their homes, and acts of terror, vandalism, and property destruction are carried out before arrest or detention.

It affirmed that these crimes are an extension of the occupation's decades-long approach of targeting the Palestinian presence and imposing tools of repression and control. It noted that the only change since the start of the war of extermination has been the increased level and intensity of crimes committed against detainees.

It is worth noting that the occupation authorities continue to carry out arrest campaigns daily, with the number of arrests in the West Bank since the war of extermination reaching approximately 22,000.
