RAMALLAH, January 27, 2026 (WAFA) - The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PRCS) stated in a joint release on Tuesday that Israeli occupation authorities issued and renewed administrative detention orders against 28 Palestinian detainees.
The period of the detentions varied between three to six months.
In a joint statement, they said that the Israeli occupation continues to escalate the crime of administrative detention under the pretext of a "secret file," noting that the number of administrative detainees constitutes the highest proportion compared to the numbers of detained and convicted prisoners and those classified as "unlawful combatants," which has seen an unprecedented rise since the start of the genocide.
Israel’s widely condemned policy of administrative detention allows detention of Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable intervals usually ranging between three and six months based on undisclosed evidence that even a detainee’s lawyer is barred from viewing.
“Israel‘s use of administrative detention blatantly violates the restrictions of international law. Israel carries it out in a highly classified manner that denies detainees the possibility of mounting a proper defense,” says Israeli human rights group B’Tselem.
