RAMALLAH, November 3, 2025 (WAFA) – The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said that its lawyers visited Ganot Prison and reviewed the conditions of Palestinian prisoners, particularly those who are ill.
The Commission documented the continued policy of deliberate medical neglect against several prisoners, most notably Rajai Hussein Abdel Qader, 43, from the town of Deir Ammar, west of Ramallah.
According to the Commission's report, Abdel Qader has been held under administrative detention since November 28, 2023. His administrative detention has been extended four consecutive times, each time for six months. This is his second period of imprisonment, as he previously spent 45 months in Israeli jails between 2015 and 2019.
During his previous detention, Abdel Qader was diagnosed with cancer in 2017, which affected his lungs, liver, and testicles. He received treatment at Soroka Medical Center while imprisoned in Nafha Prison, where his left testicle was removed, and he underwent 24 sessions of chemotherapy.
After his release, he continued treatment at An-Najah Hospital and Ramallah Hospital. However, his health deteriorated again after his re-arrest due to the lack of necessary medical care. On May 5, 2024, he was transferred to the Ramle Prison clinic, where he received only a superficial routine examination. He was recently transferred to Eshel Prison, where he underwent a full-body ultrasound, the results of which he has yet to receive.
The organization emphasized that prisoner Abdul Qader urgently needs a CT scan, amid serious concerns about the recurrence of his illness. It held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for any deterioration in his health resulting from deliberate medical negligence.
